CAIRO - 18 August 2020: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that efforts are under way to speed up the completion of development projects in Cairo to restore its civilizational appeal.


Madbouli was speaking during a meeting with head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Maj. Gen. Ihab el Far and a host of the authority's senior officials to follow up the progress of development project under construction in Cairo.

The premier was briefed on the progress made in an ongoing project to establish an industrial complex for craft workshops in Cairo's Duweika neighborhood, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said in a statement.

Occupying an area of 60 feddans, the project includes outlets for consumer goods, a residential area, an employment center for women breadwinners, a sports and social club, a bakery, a post office, a vocational training school, a street children rehabilitation center, a health center, and an entertainment and recreational area.

The project is expected to offer 6,135 direct job opportunities and over 2,000 housing opportunities.

The meeting also took up proposals for another project to renovate the mosque and shrine of Sayyida Zainab, a descendant of Ahl al-Bayt "the Prophet Muhammad's family," which is 23 per cent complete.
