CAIRO – 17 August 2021: The Ministry of Health announced it has received 1,320 plasma so far since the a national plasma donation project was launched last month.
Egypt has launched the national plasma donation project as part of a presidential initiative for the production and self-sufficiency of plasma derivatives.
The project will help achieve self-sufficiency of plasma derivatives, thus providing medicines for many chronic diseases, liver and kidney illnesses, and burns.
“We are receiving donors in our various branches in order to make plasma derivatives and provide them to citizens and achieve self-sufficiency,” said Dr. Marwa Mohsen, Director of Quality Department at the National Plasma Donation Project at the Ministry of Health in TV statements.
She further explained that donating plasma is simpler than donating blood, that the donor can donate every 14 days.
“We seek to collect human plasma from donors to manufacture drugs that are extracted from human plasma,” she added.
The Director of Quality Management at the National Plasma Donation Project at the Ministry of Health added that plasma derivatives treat many diseases, pointing out that the national plasma donation project started on July 14.
