Two criminals killed in fire exchange with Police in Asyut

CAIRO – 16 August 2021: Two dangerous criminal elements have been killed in an exchange of fire in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Asyut.

Quantities of arms, ammunition and illegal drugs were found in the duo's possession.

After taking legal procedures, security authorities mounted a campaign to arrest the pair who opened fire at the police troops and they were forced to fire back and kill them.

A Grenov machine gun and an automatic rifle as well as a quantity of bullets were seized with the dead criminals along with illegal drugs including bhang, heroin and hashish. Also a sum of money collected from their illegal narcotic trade had been found.

The prosecution was notified to start a probe into the incident.

Also, in Dakahlia governorate, two other criminal elements were arrested by security forces as they were wanted in more than seven different cases including robbery, murder, and fire shooting.

Last Thursday, Egypt's Armed Forces stated that 13 “takfiri” elements have been killed in shootouts in Central and North Sinai.

In a statement, Military spokesman Gharib Abdel Hafez said that they seized 15 automatic rifles, amounts of ammunition, 20 rifle magazines and a number of motorcycles used by the takfiris in carrying out their terrorist attacks.

The Armed Forces took legal measures and the investigation authorities were notified, according to the spokesman.

He added that amid the combat operations “nine heroes from the Armed Forces have been martyred and wounded.”
