CAIRO - 10 August 2020: Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb has said the prestigious religious institution is ready to establish an Azharite institute in Senegal to help the west African country spread the moderate teachings of Islam.
During a meeting with Senegal’s Ambassador to Egypt Elie C. Bay, Tayyeb said that Al Azhar is ready to provide Senegal with teachers and religious books to spread the upright teachings of religion, a matter that would preserve the security and stability in Senegal.
The Grand Imam affirmed that some 350 Senegalese students are studying at Al Azhar which had sent 41 teachers to Senegal, hailing the role of Al Azhar in spreading the tolerance of the Islamic faith.
