CAIRO – 9 August 2021: Hurghada International Airport received on Monday Morning first Russian flight coming from Moscow after nearly six years of suspension after the plane crash incident that took place in 2015.
Flight MS724 of an Airbus A330-300 arrived Hurghada with 300 Russian tourists on board. The airport staff received Russian tourists with roses, souvenirs, and flyers that include information about Egyptian tourist destinations in the Russian language.
Lamia Kamel, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Promotion was among the recipient to welcome Russian tourists at the airport.
She noted that the Russian tourist group expressed his happiness to return to the Egyptian tourist resorts in the Red Sea where they will enjoy the sunny beaches, landscapes, warm atmosphere and the various marine activities.
Kamel also said that the Russian tourists will conduct tourist, cultural and entertainment tours, in addition to visiting the cities of Cairo and Luxor.
According to Kamel the reactions and feedbacks of those tourists when they return home after enjoying their vacation in Egypt is the biggest promotional advertisement for the Egyptian tourist destination.
The Egyption official also stressed that the Russian market is one of the most important tourism markets to Egypt, stressing the readiness of Egyptian tourist resorts to receive tourists from all countries of the world.
Last week, Russian Ambassador in Cairo Georgiy Borisenko, said, that Moscow is assured, the Egyptian authorities have enhanced all needed security measures at airports and resorts.
In an article published by Russian Sputnik news agency he wished Russians ‘a safe and comfortable stay’ during their visit.
He added that it was not easy for Russia to take any decisions regarding resuming direct flights after the tragic plan crash incident in Sharm El-Sheikh 2015
However, Russia is convinced that in recent years, airports and resorts in Egypt have greatly enhanced security, Borisenko said.
He added that “Therefore, we expect that Russian tourists who remember traditional Egyptian hospitality and miss the Red Sea so much will have a safe and comfortable stay."
