CAIRO – 3 August 2021: The Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development – affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - provided Tuesday Burkina Faso with medical equipment, and medicines to bolster its hospitals' capacity in the face of COVID-19 pandemic.
A ceremony was held in the headquarters of Burkina Faso Ministry of Health on the occasion of the aid's delivery, and it was attended by Egyptian Ambassador Ibrahim Abdel Azim al-Khouly.
The Burkinabe minister stated that is not the first time Egypt sends medical aid to his country saying that the equipment will significantly help public hospitals in his country. He added that he looks forward to further cooperation with Egypt.
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry received in February a phone call from Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso, Alpha Barry, discussing prospects for cooperation between the two countries and a number of regional and continental issues of mutual concern.
The Egyptian minister also affirmed Egypt's keenness to support cooperation with Burkina Faso in all fields including security, health, agriculture, and energy, outlining the Egyptian side's integrated efforts and the capacity-building assistance it provides bilaterally to Burkina Faso through the training courses provided via the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development.
“The two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments at the level of the African continent, and agreed on the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between them during the upcoming stage,” the press statement indicated.
