CAIRO – 28 July 2021: In a meeting with South Sudan Vice-President James Wani Igga, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi affirmed Wednesday Egypt's commitment to providing its fellow African state with all the technical assistance it needs.

The Egyptian president expressed readiness to transfer experience in the sectors of agribusiness, irrigation, healthcare, and education among others, and to push forward economic integration in the fields of investment, trade exchange, energy, infrastructure, and oil.

The South Sudan vice-president is visiting Egypt within the Supreme Joint Committee formed after Sisi's visit to Juba in November, and he is accompanied with a number of ministers who are also meeting their Egyptian counterparts.

President Sisi asked Igga to deliver his greetings to South Sudan President Silva Kiir welcoming the first convention of the committee.

The chief of state said he looks forward to developing Egyptian-South Sudanese relations to the level of strategic partnership to be an example of developmental partnership among Nile Basin countries.

In a related context, President Sisi asserted Egypt's stance on reaching a legal binding agreement on the filling and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) crisis in a way that fulfills all parties' efforts to achieve development and preserves the Egyptian water security.
