CAIRO - 19 July 2020: Ireland has removed Egypt from the red list for travel, which requires a mandatory hotel quarantine list at an Irish hotel for 12 days.
The move was taken following intensive talks with the Irish authorities on the precautionary measures Egypt applies to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.It added that the decision will help revive tourism between the two countries.
Egypt's Health Ministry announced Sunday that 67 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country to 283,703.
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Dr Khaled Megahed said seven patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,446.
As many as 432 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 223,645 so far, the spokesman said.
Egypt successfully is past a third wave of the pandemic, reporting daily coronavirus counts that are less than 100 for the first time since October last year.
Egypt has produced a million Sinovac vaccine doses locally and has imported millions of jabs to vaccinate 40 percent of its 100 million population by the end of the year, a step that the World Health Organization has hailed.
