CAIRO – 18 July 2021: Within "Decent Life" initiative, natural gas will be introduced in four million households located in 1,337 villages extending pipelines over 16,000 kilometers.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is already carrying out natural gas introduction works in 199 villages at LE3.3 billion. The second phase worth LE5.5 billion consists of 423 villages. As for the third phase, it includes 710 villages and costs of LE16 billion.

It is noted that natural gas is currently supplied to the households of 59 villages merely while the rest count on butane gas cylinders.

Decent Life initiative targets developing 4,670 villages housing 57 percent of the Egyptian population. One aspect is infrastructure like introducing/improving wastewater, water, and road networks. Another aspect is facilities providing education, healthcare, sports, and cultural services. The third is vocational training, and funding to micro and small projects.
