CAIRO – 17 July 2021: Egypt is currently working to complete the establishment of the second largest station in the world, in terms of the diameter of the telescope, to observe space debris, said the head of the National Institute for Astronomical Research Gad el-Kady.

 

He revealed that the institute is witnessing a number of important construction projects, including the station project, which is carried out in cooperation with the Chinese side.

  

El-Qadi indicated that work is underway to modernize a number of earthquake stations, pointing out that there is a new station that has entered service in the north of the Western Desert in cooperation with an oil company, as well as the modernization of another station in the Qena governorate and two stations south of the Eastern Desert near the Red Sea coast.
