Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker reiterates support to Egyptian government, people

CAIRO – 15 July 2021: Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim affirmed that Kuwait’s leadership, government, parliament and people stand by Egypt in all the challenges it faces, Kuwaiti Al-Qabas reported.

“Egypt is the beating heart of the Arab world, and when it recovers, the entire Arab world recovers,” the newspaper cited Ghanim as saying.

Ghanim stated that he met with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Wednesday, and conveyed to him a message from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber and the deputy emir, the crown prince.

Ghanim said the message embodies the depth and specificity of the historical relationship between the two countries, and affirms Kuwait's support for Egypt in all fields.

“I thank the brothers in Egypt, and I emphasize the depth of the special relationship. We thank them for taking care of all Kuwaitis in Egypt, whether students or others,” Ghanim said, adding: “We also stress the important role of the Egyptian community in Kuwait.”

Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker met with Sisi in Cairo on Wednesday, where he hailed Egypt’s role in protecting the security and stability of Kuwait and the entire Arab World.

Hanafi El-Gebali, Egyptian Speaker of the House of Representatives; and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Cairo Mohammed Saleh Al-Thuwaikh attended the meeting with Sisi.

Sisi stressed that the security of the Gulf is linked to the Egyptian national security, calling for continuous coordination among all Arab nations in the face of the challenges in the region in line with the huge energies and capabilities of the Arab countries.

The Kuwaiti speaker affirmed his country’s appreciation of the historic and strong relations with Egypt and lauded the Egyptian efforts in protecting the security and stability of Kuwait as well as the entire Arab World.

Ghanim lauded Egypt’s role in establishing security, development and stability at the regional level and in enhancing the Arab unity, expressing his aspiration for developing the sisterly countries’ relations in various fields, especially the parliamentary field.

Sisi asked that his greetings be transferred to the Kuwaiti Emir.

Sisi also stressed the distinction the Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations enjoy and Egypt’s willingness to continue develop the cooperation with Kuwait in various fields and levels.
