Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker lauds Egypt’s role in protecting Arab security, stability

CAIRO – 14 July 2021: Marzouq al-Ghanem, Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker, hailed Egypt’s role in protecting the security and stability of Kuwait and the entire Arab World as he met on Wednesday with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the Egyptian capital.

Hanafi El-Gebali, Egyptian Speaker of the House of Representatives; and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Cairo Mohammed Saleh al-Thuwaikh attended the meeting with Sisi.

Sisi stressed that the security of the Gulf is linked to the Egyptian national security, calling for continuous coordination among all Arab nations in the face of the challenges in the region in line with the huge energies and capabilities of the Arab countries.

The Kuwaiti speaker affirmed his country’s appreciation of the historic and strong relations with Egypt and lauded the Egyptian efforts in protecting the security and stability of Kuwait as well as the entire Arab World.

Al-Ghanem lauded Egypt’s role in establishing security, development and stability at the regional level and in enhancing the Arab unity, expressing his aspiration for developing the sisterly countries’ relations in various fields, especially the parliamentary field.

Sisi asked that his greetings be transferred to the Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber.

Sisi also stressed the distinction the Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations enjoy and Egypt’s willingness to continue develop the cooperation with Kuwait in various fields and levels.

Letter from Kuwait’s emir

In February, Sisi received a letter from Kuwait’s emir as he met with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah.

The letter extended the emir’s greetings to Sisi and expressed the keenness to promote bilateral relations between Egypt and Kuwait, a statement by the Egyptian Presidency read.

The emir, in the letter, stressed that the Kuwaiti appreciation of the close and strong historical relations binding the two countries in various fields.

Sheikh Nawaf also stressed keenness to strengthen cooperation with Egypt at various levels and enhance consultation and coordination on different issues.

Sisi asked the Kuwaiti minister to convey greetings to the emir and offered his congratulations to the government and brotherly Kuwaiti people on Kuwait National Day.
