CAIRO – 12 June 2021: Egypt’s Minister of irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel-Aty will be participating in the inauguration of a Flood and Rain Forecasting Center in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during his 4-day visit that will start Tuesday.

The Forecasting Center considers to be one of the projects that was established as a result of a bilateral cooperation protocol signed between the two countries for the integrated management of water resources.

Establishing this project comes as part of Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation policy to transfer knowledge and technology to the Nile Basin countries, provide them with full technical support, and transfer expertise in the field of meteorological models and forecasts of rain and floods to confront the dangers in DR Congo.

Last April, the devices and equipment of the forecasting center were transferred from Egypt to Kinshasa. Also, experts travel from Cairo to install the devices for the center, start trial operation, and train the Congolese responsible for operating and maintaining the center.
