CAIRO - 11 July 2021: Cairo International Airport received Sunday 3,000 Russian tourists aboard 12 flights. The flights were arrivals and departure from and to several Russian cities, Around 1,529 tourists left the airport to several destinations, including Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan and Volgograd, while the airport received six other flights from Russian destinations, carrying 1,255 passengers from Moscow, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Ufa and Rosto-on-Don.

The Cairo International Airport authorities have taken all the precautionary measures to confront the outbreak of the Corona virus, as all precautionary and preventive measures have been implemented in accordance with the instructions of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health to ensure the safety of travelers and arrivals, by reducing overcrowding, especially in the places of counters and passports inspection areas.

The safe distances are considered within the travel and arrival halls, where everyone obliged to wear masks, in addition to following up on thermal cameras in the various airport halls to monitor passengers whose temperatures are above the normal rate.

In April, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed on resuming all flights between the two countries' airports including to the resorts of Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada. Sisi welcomed the step, hoping it pushes forward to further advancing bilateral relations between the two countries.

The decision to resume flights to the Egyptian resorts ends a hiatus that has lasted since 2015 over a Russian plane crash over Sinai, which killed all 224 people onboard.
