Aswan International Women Film Festival honors NCW president Maya Morsy with Nut Grand Award

Cairo – 25 June 2021:  Aswan International Women Film Festival (AIWFF) awarded president of the National Council For Women Maya Morsy, with the Nut Grand Award for Achievement for her tireless efforts in fields involving women and her ability to instigate change and bring justice to women in all levels.

Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem presented the award during AIWFF ‘s opening ceremony saying that the Nut Grand Award is being presented this year to “one of the most prominent women who mad a lot of efforts for empowering women.”

 

She noted that Morsy has lived a life full of giving, and has been able to change many things inside the society for the favor of Egyption women and girls.

Abdel Dayem also affirmed that Morsy has been able to push for changing just laws in Egypt and the Arab world to preserve women’s rights.

 “She has been fighting against all forms of inherited discrimination, and certainly has a lot of ideas that will be inspiring for several generations to come.” Egypt’s Minster of culture said while presenting the Nut Grand Award for Morsy, Thursday.

Aswan International Women Film Festival kicked off on June 24 with a glamorous opening ceremony.

AIWFF ‘s opening ceremony graced with the presence of chairman of the festival’s board of trustees HE Ambassador Mervat El Tallawy, vice chairman Dr. Azza Kamel, president National Council For Women Maya Morsy, Festival head Mohamed Abdelkhalek and festival director Hassan Abou El Ela, among others.

The Nile Edition’s Opening Ceremony also witnessed the attendance of Egypt’s Minister of Culture Dr. Ines Abdeldayem, Aswan Governor Ashraf Attia, President of the National, European Union in Egypt Ambassador Christian Berger among many other esteemed guests.

 

AIWFF announced earlier this week the opening of the Nut Forum for Women’s Issues on June 25 in the presence of Maya Morsy, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women, Ambassador Mervat El Tellawi, Chairman of the Festival’s Board of Trustees, Azza Kamel, Director of the Forum.

It was added that The Nut Forum will be awarding Morsy with the Nut Grand Award for Achievement for her tireless efforts in fields involving women and her ability to instigate change and bring justice to women in all levels.
