EU is Egypt's ally in fighting against terrorism - Envoy

CAIRO - 7 July 2017: Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Cairo ambassador Ivan Surkos condemned on Friday a terrorist attack that targeted Egyptian soldiers in a security checkpoint in North Sinai and left 26 servicemen dead and injured.

On his Twitter page, Surkos said EU is Egypt's ally in fighting against terrorism.

He offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured people.

Gunmen with a booby-trapped vehicle targeted a security checkpoint in North Sinai earlier in the day, leaving 26 servicemen dead and injured.
