CAIRO – 2 June 2021: Egypt’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid and his Sudanese counterpart, Muhammad Othman Al-Hussein, attended the closing activities of the joint military exercise “Homat Al-Nile” (The Guardians of the Nile).
The exercise, which lasted for several days in Sudan, came with the participation of personnel from the ground, naval, air and air defense forces, in addition to the special Thunderbolt forces and Airborne Corps from the two countries, the Egyptian military spokesman said.
Helicopters also carried out joint operations to raid hostile targets and also carried out search and rescue operations, the spokesman said.
Naval forces of both countries also carried out a number of activities, including raiding some vital targets.
Farid highlighted the high military readiness of the forces participating in the training, which confirms the two countries’ ability to face threats and challenges facing them.
Hussein and Farid held a bilateral meeting, where they discussed issues of military cooperation during the coming period. They also discussed the ongoing security and military challenges and threats, according to the spokesman.
He expressed aspiration that the coming period witnesses further military cooperation between the two countries.
