Merkel receives G20 summit leaders amid tight security

BERLIN - 7 July 2017: German Chancellor Angela Merkel received on Friday the heads of state and government of the G20 summit held in the city of Hamburg, amid tight security and violent clashes between police and protesters.

Hamburg police said 100 policemen were wounded Thursday evening in violent clashes with protesters ahead of the G20 summit.

While, the protesters said the same number of wounded was reported among them after they were attacked by the police.

The summit is expected to discuss several issues, such as combating terrorism, economic growth and trade liberalization.
