CAIRO – 26 May 2021: Egypt took part virtually in the 38th ordinary summit of the African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Africa's Development (AUDA-NEPAD).
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi was represented Ambassador Soha Gendy, who is heading the African Organizations and Assemblies Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed the agency's work to mitigate the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly on the economic level. The meeting also displayed the executive status of the developmental projects implemented by NEPAD in various sectors. Further, the participants examined selecting a successor to the current NEPAD CEO Ibrahim Mayaki.
The projects led by Egypt on the AU-level include electricity linkage among African countries, and the Vic-Med Project, which is an inland transportation one linking Lake Victoria with the Mediterranean through the Nile River.
