CAIRO - 24 May 2020: Egyptian authorities continued to open the Rafah crossing for the ninth consecutive day Monday to allow stranded Palestinians and humanitarian cases on both sides to cross the border terminal.
Medical and administrative teams are stationed for facilitating the passage of the injured and their escorts to Egyptian hospitals for treatment, according to official sources at the crossing.
Egypt had exceptionally opened the crossing to enable people stranded on the two sides to cross and to deliver aid to Gazans.
Egypt announced on May 17, allocating a total of 165 ambulances and 11 hospitals for the treatment of the Palestinians injured due to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which claimed the lives of dozens of Palestinians.
Health Minister Hala Zayed reviewed with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly the state's plan to transfer and support the injured Palestinians coming from Gaza, amid the week-long aggression on the strip.
In a Cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Zayed said the ministry has allocated 165 ambulances to transfer the injured Palestinians, including 50 equipped with intensive care units and ventilators.
Egypt has taken political and diplomatic steps to encourage ceasefire, condemn the Israeli aggression and support the Palestinian’s legitimate rights.
In his speech delivered before a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session on May 16, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry stipulated that the current Israeli aggression against Palestinians mandates the Security Council to fulfill its duties by thoroughly examining the root causes and backing the only fair and sustainable solution that is the two-state solution.
