PM chairs NCCMDRR first meeting

CAIRO - 6 July 2017: Prime Minister Sherif Ismail chaired on Thursday the first meeting of the National Committee for Crisis Management and Disaster Risk Reduction (NCCMDRR) at the headquarters of the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).

The meeting, attended by a number of ministers, governors and the head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), is expected to review the efforts of the crisis and disaster management sector.

The meeting saw the launch of a national strategy to curb the risks of disasters, which comes in response to internal, regional and international variables to minimize the dangers of disasters.

The 2030 National Strategy for Disaster Risk Management (NSDRM) aims to protect peoples' lives and properties through developing a national program to reduce the risks of disasters, which in turn help raise society capabilities and achieve the sustainable development
