CAIRO – 5 July 2017: President Abdel Fatah El Sisi said on Wednesday that the challenges of the Middle East, which came as a result of current regional crises in some countries, require Egypt and the US to intensify their coordination and cooperation at all levels.

At a meeting with a visiting delegation of the US Congress, president Sisi underlined the necessity of activating international efforts for fighting terrorism and extremism in all their forms and shapes, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.

He also highlighted the necessity of stopping all forms of funding to the terrorist groups by some countries who supply these groups with weapons and fighters and provide safe havens for them.

The president also reviewed the overall political and economic developments in Egypt where he confirmed keenness on establishing a modern civil State, according to the spokesman.

The visiting delegates lauded the strong relations between the two countries and expressed satisfaction over efforts to upgrade bilateral relations.

They also confirmed that Egypt is a major country in the Middle East and appreciated its efforts for fighting terrorism and extremism, added the spokesman.
