CAIRO – 5 July 2017: The Egyptian Company for Wholesale Trade announced Wednesday offering 60 tons of frozen poultry and meat products, as well as fresh meat, on daily basis at discounted prices compared to the prices by other providers in Upper Egypt.
The discounted products are offered at the company's outlets in order to alleviate the impact of the hike in prices. The General Company for Wholesale Trade is also providing similar products in Lower Egypt.
Both companies are affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries administered by the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade.
The CEO of the Egyptian Company for Wholesale Trade, Mohamed Atef, told Egypt Today that the subsidized goods are to be supplied regularly in July to affiliated outlets in all governorates. The products include basic goods such as rice, vegetable oil, and sugar.
Subsidized goods are granted to 75 million citizens enrolled in the in-kind subsidies program, which will gradually be substituted by monetary subsidies program called Takaful wa Karama offered by the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
