Egyptian president extends condolences to Iraq over hospital explosion

CAIRO – 26 April 2021: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi extended condolences via the phone Sunday to Iraqi counterpart Barham Saleh over the death of COVID-19 patients at Ibn Al Khatib Hospital in Baghdad wishing speedy recovery to the injured, spokesperson stated.

An explosion occurred in the hospital's oxygen container earlier on the same day incurring the death of 89 and the injury of 110. The majority of those were lying in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier condoled the government and people of Iraq over the unfortunate accident.
