CAIRO - 18 April 2021: Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said stated in a ceremony held in the weekend that the government is establishing more nurseries and care centers for children, pointing out to the ministry's support for the Ministry of Social Solidarity on that front.
El-Said referred to the ministry's responsibility for the Egyptian family development project, which is focused on upgrading the characteristics of the population by expanding investment in health, education, and technology, as well as working to control the population growth rates.
El-Said explained that the most important pillars of this plan are the economic empowerment of women, pointing to transforming integration centers into centers for women's health all over Egypt.
The plan also includes awareness and cultural pillars, stressing that the state aims through this plan to have a strong and well-educated generation that achieves high productivity and contributes efficiently to building society in a better way.
El-Said addressed the importance of the Equal Opportunities Unit at the Ministry of Planning, calling for the establishment of similar units in all ministries, pointing to the unit’s role in spreading awareness and culture within state institutions of the importance of the role of women.
She indicated that President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi has assigned the Ministry of Planning to monitor the status of women in leadership positions, at the level of the state’s administrative apparatus, and the level of state institutions as a whole, and the private sector as well.
El-Said pointed out to the efforts of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) in cooperation with the National Council for Women in support and empowerment of women, noting the importance of training women in leadership skills.
El-Said stressed that training gives opportunities for selection, so the more a person is trained in many skills and ideas, the greater his ability to choose, explaining the importance of training on digital aspects because it helps to use the internet more, especially in light of an increasing digital divide among women.
