CAIRO – 8 April 2021: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting Thursday in the Cabinet's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to examine the preparations for the inauguration of the new city.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials and representatives of the company organizing the ceremony.
The meeting is upon an assignment by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to start preparations for the inauguration of the New Capital, including selecting the spots where the celebration can take place. Proposed spots include the People's Yard, the Flagpole area, and others.
The prime minister said that the ceremony will send a message on the beginning of the "New Republic." It is noted that the president used the term the "Second Republic" in March to say that the inauguration of the New Capital marks the foundation of a new Egypt that is modern and advanced given the infrastructure and public services revamping, and new cities, including fourth-generation ones, being executed.
Madbouli listened to a presentation by officials of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority on the progress rate in the governmental neighborhood. Constructions of the buildings are completed by 100 percent. The buildings' fronts, electromechanical works, and landscaping are being finalized.
