Egypt’s president urges increasing ‘Ahlan Ramadan’ fair outlets to 2,100 in meeting with the PM and the supply minister - Presidency
CAIRO – 5 April 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi urged increasing outlets for basic commodities of the “Ahlan Ramadan” fair held annually to 2,100, the Presidency said on Monday.
The fair, held for the sixth year, provides basic commodities at affordable prices for all citizens on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The president’s directives aim to provide Egyptians with their needs before Ramadan, the presidency said.
Sisi urged applying an appropriate discount on these commodities in line with the state’s policy to ease the burden that needy people shoulder.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly opened the fair on Sunday on a total area of 12,000 square meters in line with the state’s precautionary measures against the coronavirus pandemic.
During his tour of the fair, Madbouly stressed the importance of supplying local products with high quality to encourage the citizens to buy them during the sale, MENA reported.
Meanwhile, Moselhi said the Supply Ministry is keen on holding the fair for the sixth year in a row in cooperation with the Trade and Industry Ministry and Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, noting that 26 fairs will be opened in different governorates.
About 168 companies participate in the fair this year, offering their products with discounts ranging between 18% to 28%, the minister pointed out.
