CAIRO – 2 April 2021: Egypt’s First Lady Entissar Amer marked the Orphan’s Day held annually in Egypt on the first Friday of April, saying “reflects love, harmony and mercy.”

In a Facebook post, Amer said: “The Orphan’s Day is one of the most important days reflecting love, harmony and mercy in all our hearts toward our sons and daughters who lost the closest people to them.”

“Let us be the helping hand that draws a smile on their lips and ensure them a safe and a bright future,” Amer added.

The idea to have an Orphans’ Day began with an initiative from an Egyptian NGO in 2003; the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers of the Arab league in 2006 recognized it as a day for orphanages in the Arab World.
