CAIRO – 31 March 2021: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi mourned Wednesday Former Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri who passed away aged 88.
"Egypt lost today a statesman of a unique class. That is Kamal al-Ganzouri, the former prime minister. The late [PM] was devoted to Egypt, loyal to its land and people. He has positive impact on various aspects of the political and economic lives. He also enjoyed a valued academic status, wise vision, excellent leadership skills, and good manners. [Ganzouri] was devout, honest, and loyal in fateful and decisive stages of this homeland's history. May God bless the soul of the dearest [Ganzouri], and I extend my condolences to his family praying that God bestows patience and consolation upon them."
Former Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri passed away Wednesday aged 88 at the Air Force Hospital in New Cairo.
Ganzouri was born on January 12, 1933 in Menoufeya governorate, and the key posts he held are governorate of New Valley, governorate of Beni Suef, and chairman of the National Planning Institute.
Later on, he became minister of planning, then, deputy prime minister. Ganzouri served as prime minister between January 1996 and October 1999, and between November 2011 and July 2012.
In July 2013, Ganzouri was appointed as counselor for economic affairs to Interim President at the time Adly Mansour, who served for one year.
