CAIRO – 26 March 2021: Egyptian Minister of Immigration Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel-Shahid held a meeting on Thursday with a number of Egyptian digital content makers on social media to encourage them to promote for the correct image of the Egyptian culture through their platforms.
The meeting was attended by both Egyptians in the country, and nationals living abroad.
Ambassador Nabila Makram expressed her admiration for the ability of these young people to influence a large segment of the audience on social media and digital platforms.
She further praised the diverse content they provide for its good societal and psychological impact, noting that the new generation has become more aware of content creation, and that more attention should be paid to them because of the impact they succeeded in achieving.
“Egypt in this period is facing a number of challenges and is fighting a fierce media and information war, in which some want to broadcast and promote a false image of Egypt abroad, which calls for concerted efforts to respond to the rumors raised about Egypt abroad, and correct that wrong image,” Ambassador Makram said.
Egypt seeks to rectify erroneous information spread about it and propagate for the positive perspectives of the country.
She referred to a number of initiatives launched by the ministry to confront attempts to harm the Egyptian identity, including "Speak Arabic" initiative, which provides educational material that seeks to preserve the national identity and enhance the spirit of belonging among the new generations of Egyptians abroad.
