Baked Tilapia

This classic goes down well with everyone

Ingredients (takes 40 minutes to make)


5 large tilapia fish
6 garlic cloves
1 tbsp cumin powder
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp dry coriander
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp turmeric
¼ tsp dry chili flakes or chili powder
1 tsp sugar
1 green pepper, finely chopped
1 chili pepper, finely chopped
¼ cup fresh coriander, finely chopped
¼ cup lemon juice
½ cup olive oil
Salt and pepper


Gut fish and wash very well with cold water before draining.
In a mortar add all remaining ingredients and crush using the pestle to achieve a very soft paste. Divide paste between fish and rub each fish very well to season from the inside and outside. Place fish in a baking dish adding some lemon slices on top and bake in medium oven for 25 minutes.  Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
