Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayyeb and Pope Tawadros II, the Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, have agreed on establishing a joint committee that acts in one voice against the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.
Mercy principle is very important for achieving stability of lives of individuals and communities, said Tayyeb.
Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark extended greetings on Saturday to Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb on Eid Al-Fitr.
Tayyeb also urged these communities to support the two downstream countries against some claims of ownership of the river and acting unilaterally in a way that harms the lives of the two countries’ peoples.
Tayyeb said that religious immoderation (extremism) and irreligiosity have nothing to do with moderate Islam.
