In a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister and COP27 President Sameh Shoukry on Friday on the sidelines of the climate summit, Sharma highlighted the UK keenness to triple the funding allocated for enhancing adaptation efforts by 2025.
“The meeting comes as Egypt is keen to coordinate and consult with all the parties to build on outcomes of COP26 held in Glasgow,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, hailing the COP26’s outcome that enhances international efforts in the face of climate change.
The meeting has agreed on the need for strengthening cooperation between the UK and Egypt to confront the impacts of climate change and build on the current global climate action, a joint statement read.
