CAIRO-11MARCH 2021: Al Ahly's head coach Pitso Mosimane stated that the team's 2-0 victory over Ismaily is a perfect preparation for the team ahead of the win-or-die clash against AS Vita Club in Congo.
"Today’s match is great preparation for our upcoming game against AS Vita Club. I spoke with the players before the match and I told them that Ismaily’s game is a good opportunity to prepare for our next game against Vita.” Mosimane said in the post-match press conference.
Al Ahly secured the three points thanks to two goals from Badr Benoun, who opened the score from the spot, and Salah Mohsen.
Mosimane added "We achieved our target from today’s game, as we managed to win the three points and keep a clean sheet.”
Al Ahly's attention will turn to the anticipated game against the Congolese champions in the CAF Champions League.
The Red Devils need to achieve a positive result in Congo if they want to keep their chances to reach the competition's quarter-finals alive.
Al Ahly and AS Vita Club share the second place with four points each and they are three points behind the group leaders, Simba of Tanzania.
