CAIRO-5 March 2021: Zamalek’s head coach Jaime Pacheco spoke ahead of Zamalek’s match against Tunisian giants, Esperance, in Matchday 3 of the CAF Champions League group stage.

Pacheco said that Zamalek players have the ambition to defeat Esperance and take a step towards securing a spot in the competition’s quarter-finals.

“We are ready for the match. They are a strong team and I expect a strong match between the two teams as both clubs have rich history and huge ambition to win the title.” Pacheco said in the pre-match press conference.

The White Knights aim to achieve a good result and improve their situation in the group as they achieved only two points after two matches.

Pacheco added “We failed to win the first two matches because we faced solid defense and we failed to score despite creating many chances. We need to be more efficient.”

Zamalek enter the match with high spirits as they managed to win the 2019 CAF Super Cup after defeating Esperance 3-1.

Also, Zamalek knocked Esperance out of the CAF Champions League last season after defeating them in the last season’s quarter-finals.

The White Knights failed to achieve the CAF Champions League title since 2002 and they hope to put an end to this winless run in the competition after reaching the final last season and losing to arch-rivals, Al Ahly.
