Zamalek secure a last-minute victory in handball derby

CAIRO-18 February 2021: Zamalek  handball team defeated Al Ahly 28-27 on Thursday night in the Egyptian Premier League.

The White Knights secured a last-minute victory over the Red Eagles in the derby, held at Cairo International stadium hall.

The first half ended with a 15-14 lead for the Red Eagles but Zamalek fought back in the second half to win the match and jump to the top of the table.

“We returned to the right track. We are a strong team and the players fought till the end to secure the victory and return back to the top of the table.” Zamalek head coach Hussein Zaky said after the match.

Zamalek reached 13 points and they share the top of the table with Al Ahly and Sporting.

Zaky added “I would like to thank my players for their efforts in the match. We controlled the tempo of the game and I am happy with the result.”

Zamalek will face Aviation Club on Friday while Al Ahly are set to face Al Zohour.
