CAIRO-4 February 2021: Al Ahly captain Mohamed El Shenawy believes that his team will be in a tough mission against Al Duhail SC of Qatar.

Al Ahly will open their participation in the competition against the hosts on Wednesday night at Education City Stadium.

"Al Duhail are a strong side with some quality players. They’ve made some big signings. We’ve watched their last few games in the Qatari league and we know it’s going to be a big battle." El Shenawy said.

The winner of the clash will face German giants Bayern Munich on 8 February in the semi-finals.

El Shenawy added "Qualifying for the second round and taking on Bayern Munich would be amazing for us, the players, because we’ll be taking on the best team in Europe. It’s what every player dreams of.”

Al Ahly represent the African continent in the competition after winning the CAF Champions League title for the 9th time, having defeated arch-rivals Zamalek in the final.

The Red Devils are participating in the FIFA Club World Cup for the sixth time in history and they are the Arab and African club with most appearances in the competition.

Al Ahly's best achievement came in 2006 when they won the bronze medal, becoming the first club from Africa to reach the podium.
