CAIRO-21 January 2021: Egypt handball national team defeated Russian Handball Federation 28-23 on Wednesday night at Cairo indoor hall complex. 
 
The hosts achieved their first victory in the main round matches and took a huge step towards the quarter-finals. 
 
The Pharaohs bounced back after their loss to Sweden in the last round of the group stage and returned back to the right track. 
 
Sweden were held to a draw by Belarus, who scored a late goal to secure a 26-26 draw. 
 
Also, Slovenia destroyed North Macedonia 31:21 to send a strong message to the other group teams that they are ready to challenge for the top two spots in the group. 
 
Sweden are leading the group with five points, only one point ahead of Egypt and Slovenia, while RHF comes third in the group with three points. 
 
Egypt hosts the competition between 13 and 31 January 2021, with the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the competition's history.
