CAIRO-10 December 2020: Al Ahly Tunisian winger Ali Maaloul is happy after helping the Red Devils to win the CAF Champions League title for the 9th time in the club's history.

Maaloul participated in the final for the first time in his career as he missed the final in 2017 and 2018 for injury and Al Ahly lost the title on both occasions.

"Playing in the CAF Champions League final was a dream for me as the injury forced me to miss the final in 2017 and 2018." Maaloul said on Wednesday.

Maaloul suffered an injury in the semi-finals first leg in Morocco against Wydad Casablanca which ended with a 2-0 win for the Red Devils, with Maaloul scoring the second goal from the penalty spot.

Maaloul was forced to miss the second leg at home as the coaching staff decided to rest him to ensure that he is ready for the final.

The Tunisian defender set up Al Ahly's opener in the final against Zamalek as Amr El Soulia met his wonderful cross to open the score for Al Ahly in the final which ended with a 2-1 win for the Red Devils.

"I am happy at Al Ahly and I have a contract with the club till 2022. I love the club and the fans and we hope to win the CAF Super Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup to start the new season in perfect shape." Maaloul added.
