Mosimane and coaching staff celebrate the title

CAIRO-28 November 2020: Al Ahly South African manager Pitso Mosimane guided Al Ahly to the 9th CAF Champions League title in the club's history.

"It’s an unbelievable and an amazing feeling. Not everyone can win the Champions League. It was a difficult match against a very good team." Mosimane said after the match.

Mosimane was appointed as Al Ahly manager in October while the team was preparing for the CAF Champions League semis.

He led the Red Devils to defeat Wydad Casablanca in the semi-finals 5-1 on aggregate and took them to the final.

Mosimane's Al Ahly defeated Zamalek 2-1 on Friday night in the final to secure the title.

The South African manager added "Beautiful goals from the three scorers of the game. I must thank everyone who took part in this success; the players, the technical team, the president of the club, everyone."

Al Ahly opened the score after just five minutes thanks to a header from midfielder Amr El Soulia who received a wonderful cross from Ali Maaloul.

Zamalek captain Shikabala equalized the score for the white Knights after 30 minutes as he dribbled three defenders from Al Ahly and shot the ball into the top corner of the goal.

Mohamed Magdy Afsha scored the winning goal for Al Ahly only five minutes before the final whistle to declare Al Ahly Champions of Africa.
