CAIRO-13 November 2020: Liverpool Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) issued a statement regarding the player’s case, noting that the player showed no symptoms of the disease.

The player will follow the protocol, set by the national team’s doctor Mohamed Abo El Ela, in coordination with Liverpool’s medical team.

The EFA’s statement added that the rest of the players tested negative for COVID-19 and they are ready for the match against Togo in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Egypt will face Togo on Saturday in the third round of the qualifiers and the Pharaohs need to secure the victory to improve their situation in the group.

Egypt comes third in the group with two points after two draws against Kenya at home and Comoros in Moroni.

The two teams will meets again on 17 November in Lome.
