CAIRO-1 October 2020: Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdelhafiz believes that the club achieved an important victory over Tersana and avoided Cup surprises.

"It is always difficult to achieve wins in Cup games. The Cup is full of surprises and we wanted to avoid a surprise from a team with much history like Tersana." Abdelhafiz said.

The Red Devils defeated second division side, Tersana, 2_1 thanks to two goals from Junior Ajayi while Tersana's only goal was scored by Ibrahim Mansour.

The game, overshadowed by the departure of Swiss manager Rene Weiler, was dominated by Al Ahly from the start to the end and they had the upper hand in the game.

He added "We will prepare for the next stage which will see us face Arab Contractors, Pyramids, Enppi in the league and Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

Al Ahly are set to announce on Thursday that they have parted away with their team coach and they will announce the appointment of South African manager Pitso Mosimane as the club's new head coach.

Mosimane, who won CAF Champions League title with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016, will lead the team in the rest of the competition.
