CAIRO-18 September 2020: Al Ahly do not need the win on Saturday over Misr Lel Makasa to celebrate the Egyptian Premier League title as Aswan defeated the second-placed Zamalek 1-0 on Friday night to crown the Red Devils champions.

Aswan, led by former Al Ahly player Ahmed Koshari, dominated the first half and had many chances to score. The only goal in the game came minutes before half-time by Ibrahim Galal.

In the second half, Zamalek were the better side but their strikers failed to turn their chances into goals to equalize the score.

Aswan’s victory sent them to the 34-point mark and the Blues took another step to escape relegation battle.

“It was a historic game and another proof that we are a very good team. Zamalek have a great team but I was sure from getting the three points.” Koshari said after the game.

Zamalek’s second place is threatened after the loss as Pyramids and Arab Contractors are only five points behind Zamalek and they still one more game to play.
