CAIRO-21 August 2020: Spanish reports claim that Barcelona star Lionel Messi told the club's new manager Ronald Koeman that he is doubtful about his future with the Catalan giants.

The new Barcelona manager revealed during his presentation that Lionel Messi is the main pillar of his new team but he needs to put much effort to convince the Argentinean star to stay at Camp Nou.

"He's a winner and if he doesn't win he gets upset. I have to make sure it works, that he feels important. He has to finish his career here, because he is Barcelona and Barcelona is Messi." Koeman said.

The player has been linked with a move away from his childhood club to join Manchester City in England but the team fans aim that he changes his mind and finish his career in Barcelona.

Koeman has been linked with the top job at the Catalan club on various occasions but the current crisis in Barcelona forced the manager to resign as the Dutch national team manager to take charge of Barcelona.

Koeman, who represented Barcelona as a player for six years between 1989 and 1995, aims to return Barcelona to the right track.

Barcelona were humiliated in Lisbon when they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich.

This loss led to the dismissal of Barcelona manager Quique Setien and the club's Sporting Director Eric Abidal.
