CAIRO-13 August 2020: Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez reveals that now is not the right time to manage Barcelona.

The former captain was offered the position last January following the departure of Ernesto Valverde but he decided to stay with Al Sadd and prefers to continue gaining experience.

"In January I told them that it was not the time, and now they have not contacted me [since]. As a culé I wish them the best." Xavi told Spanish national newspaper El Pais.

Barcelona are facing their first Non-title season since 2008 but they still have a chance to bounce back in the UEFA Champions League.

The Catalan club will face German giants Bayern Munich on Friday night in Lisbon and they count on their captain Lionel Messi's magic to reach the semi-finals.

Xavi praised his former teammate, Lionel Messi, saying "Messi needs Barça, and Barça need Messi. They have to make him happy, because with Leo Messi glad they will win more titles."
