CAIRO_3 July 2020: Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Thursday that the Egyptian league will return to action on 7 August.

Hossam El Zanaty, director of the Egyptian Football Association’s Competitions Committee, stated that the league will start with the postponed games.

The EFA will announced the league schedule on two phases according to El Zanaty.

The first phase is set to include the games from 7 August until the end of the month while the second phase will include the games between 1 September and the end of the season.

El Zanaty added that the EFA did not reach a final decision regarding Aswan's request to play their home games in Cairo.

All football-related activities have been suspended since 14 March amid coronavirus pandemic.

Al Ahly lead the Egyptian league table with 49 points from 17 games and they are the favourites to win the title this season as they are 16 points ahead of the second-placed Arab Contractors who gained 33 points from 18 games.
