CAIRO_13 June 2020: Al Ahly board member, Khaled Mortagy, announced that the club has reached an agreement to keep their Swiss manager, Rene Weiler for another two years.

The club officials discussed the new contract with the manager over video conference as he returned back home for a short vacation before the return of sports activities in Egypt.

"We have reached an agreement with Weiler to extend his contract for two years. We did not negotiate with another manager." Mortagy told the club official website.

Weiler was appointed as the club manager at the beginning of the season and he earned the club fans' hearts after the quick improvement of the team.

Mortagy added "Weiler has the desire to stay with the club. We had three meetings over video conference with the club and his agent and we did not have any disagreements."

Al Ahly are leading the Egyptian league table with 18 points clear and they have reached the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

Al Ahly has won a record 8 CAF Champions League titles but they failed to win the title since 2013.

The Red Devils are dreaming of winning the 9th CAF Champions League title and secure a spot at FIFA Club World Cup.
