CAIRO_21 May 2020: Egyptian Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, revealed that the game against Congo at 2018 World Cup Qualifiers was the toughest game of his career.

Egypt needed to win over Congo at home to secure a direct ticket to the World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

"The game against Congo was the toughest game I ever played in my career." Salah said.

Salah was the nation's hero after the game as he scored two goals to secure a 2_1 win for the Pharaohs. His second goal came seconds before the final whistle and the fans nationwide break down in tears of joy.

Despite his massive efforts during the qualifications, Salah could not help the national team avoid a humiliating exit from the World Cup after losing the three games in the group stage.

Salah was not fit for the tournament as he suffered a shoulder injury during 2018 UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid.

He only featured in the last two games and scored Egypt's two goals at the tournament.
