Weiler: Al Ahly could compete between 8th to 12th place in the Bundesliga

Rene Weiler, Al Ahly’s manager, spoke about his overall experience with Al Ahly in addition to giving his opinion on what Al Ahly’s performance would be like in the Bundesliga.

The 46-year-old manager [Weiler] spoke to German sports newspaper Kicker about his thoughts and impressions of coaching Al Ahly as well as living in a country with a different culture than his.

“I am pleased to live here. I enjoy living in a different continent with a different football and lifestyle,” Weiler said as reported by Yallakora.

Additionally, Al Ahly’s current manager [Weiler] addressed his satisfaction towards the players work ethic and level of professionalism.

“The players here prefer playing in an attacking way rather than playing in a defensive style,” Weiler added, according to Yallakora.

The Swiss manager [Weiler] also spoke about Al Ahly’s chances if they competed in a European league like the Bundesliga [German league].

“Honestly, I didn't know which place the team would be in. We could compete between eighth to twelfth position. However, I am certain that it would be difficult to beat us,” Weiler said, according to Yallakora..

Ever since Weiler’s arrival to Al Ahly and the 46 year old managed to win the 2017/2018 Egyptian Super after achieving a 3-2 victory over Zamalek.

R.S.C. Anderlecht’s former manager [Weiler] led Al Ahly to 16 consecutive victories in the Egyptian Premier League before drawing with Smouha SC 1-1. Al Ahly is currently in first place; however, the competition is suspended due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

While in the CAF Champions League, Weiler led Al Ahly to the semifinals where they are yet to play two decisive matches against last year’s competition runner up Wydad Athletic Club from Casablanca, Morocco.
