CAIRO_18 April 2020: Al Ittihad basketball captain, Ismail Ahmed, agrees to take a 50% pay cut to help the club manage costs amid the coronavirus crisis.

The basketball competitions in Egypt were suspended like all the sports competitions worldwide due to the spread of coronavirus.

Ismail is one of basketball ball legends in Alexandria and nationwide as he has a tremendous career as a basketball player.

Ismail started his career with his childhood club, Al Ittihad, in mid-90s and caught the eye in his breakthrough to become one of the most promising talents in Africa.

After four years in Alexandria, he decided to move to Lebanon where he played for different clubs but he is most remembered for his spell with Al Riyadi.

Ismail returned to Al Ittihad in January 2020, which was a huge boost for Al Ittihad and their fans as they aim to win the Egyptian league for the first time since 2010.

Al Ittihad secured their spot at the league final as they won the first three games in a five elimination at the semi-finals and they await the winner of Al Ahly clash against Al Jazira.
